After my partner, Marci, and I participated in the 2002 IPAT Biennial Convention, in Los Angeles, we took a trip down to San Diego and visited the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. We both took several photos of the tigers in the Tiger River section of the zoo. I knew that I wanted to do a watercolor close-up painting of a tiger later in the year, so I took lots of photos of the faces of the two tigers which were roaming around the compound when we were there. I used one of the photos as a resource for this painting.

I enjoy painting tigers as much in watercolor as I do china painting.
