Syra has loved art since she was a little girl but did not commence painting on porcelain until the early seventies. She has achieved professional success as a porcelain teacher and artist. |
|
As a teacher, she was invited to teach and demonstrate in Australia in 1985. She has traveled throughout the U.S. since 1983 dictating seminars on Porcelain Painting and the various techniques used in Porcelain Art. She is a faculty member at the Spruill Center For The Arts where she has taught continuously since 1985. |

As an artist, she has shown her work with critical success. Her work won Best of Show at the Georgia State Fair in 1993 and 1998. She has also earned many first and second place ribbons at the Georgia National Fair. The World Association of China Painters in Georgia have selected over fifteen of her pieces for display in their museum in Oklahoma City. |

Moreover, her work has been displayed at the Spruill Art
Gallery as part of a collective show of artists from the Southeast. It
has also been displayed at the Spruill Center for the Arts, as part of
a teacher’s exhibit. Also, her paintings have been displayed at the American
Intercontinental University Gallery as part of a collective show of Colombian
artists. Additionally, her work has been featured in Southern Living,
International Porcelain Artists Magazine, World Organization of China
Painters Magazine and China Decorator Magazine. Her Limoges boxes can
