Office of the Governor- PROCLAMATION- State of Oregon

  • WHEREAS: The art of painting on porcelain requires great skill, intensive training, and great artistic ability to produce the beautiful porcelain art which people the world over enjoy; and
  • WHEREAS: Throughout history,the art of porcelain painting has provided a medium for the preservation of history and culture; and
  • WHEREAS: Porcelain has further been recognized as a fine art by the world's great civilizations since porcelain was first made in China during the T'ang Dynasty
    ( A.D.618-907 ) ; and
  • WHEREAS: Growing numbers of American artists have studied, explored, and enhanced the historic skills of porcelain painting, adding immeasurably to the cultural enrichment of our state and nation; and
  • WHEREAS: The efforts of these artists bring beauty and expanded dimension to our culture for the benefit and enrichment of the lives of all citizens.
  • NOW, THEREFORE, I , NEIL GOLDSCHMIDT, Governor of the State of Oregon, hereby proclaim May 1990, as

PORCELAIN ART MONTH
in Oregon and encourage all citizens to join in this observance.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and cause the Great Seal of the State of Oregon to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the City of Salem and the State of Oregon, on this day, February 2, 1990.
